Since moving to the south several years ago, I've realized just how important of a role water has played in my life. Even more so, my creative journey. The south has its share of rivers and lakes, but it's not like what I grew up around.
During a particular week, I felt my soul becoming restless. If I lived in Oregon, I would drive to my favorite place to center myself - The Columbia River. Since moving to Nashville in 2018, I hadn't found a place of escape. A place to go to when I need to re-energize and gather my thoughts. During an online search, I found a lake 20 minutes away from my house, so I decided to make it a sunset date with my husband.
Once we got there, I realized I had found that place of escape my soul needed.
I think we all need a place like that, not to escape life entirely, but to escape the noise that distracts us from confronting the restlessness or weariness we feel at times.
Escape is inspired by the tranquility of rippling waves colliding against each other. My hope is you can imagine the sights and sounds of a hidden oasis consuming your inner-being as you melt into a restful state of mind.
